Thoughts on the Year Past

Forgive me if I ramble. It is New Year’s Eve at about 10PM. The Zags are playing OU on ESPN. Amy and I had dinner at the Bristol. The service is always good, nice meal, and we brought a nice Pinot Noir. Amy has now changed the channel to “Raymond”. I thought I would put together a few thoughts on the year past after a few vodka-sodas and the Pinot. Bear with me I will not cover the whole year but just a few things on my mind.

The inauguration of President Obama was a wonderful thing. Bear in mind I wouldn’t vote for him if you paid me. In thought, it shows where our great country has come since the Civil War. Hopefully this is another step we can build on in our future. Don’t fret I will have my two cents on his politics a bit later.
Nancy Pelosi and Harry Reid should hang. Enough said, on second thought, they are the two biggest problems in this country. There is one wish I have for this country, term limits. Two-six year terms for the senate and two-four year terms for the house.

A-Rod is a crook, who cares. Another national championship for North Carolina, Roy has a machine in place. The Cardnials miss the Super Bowl by an incredible play, maybe the best of all time. The Royal’s farm system is working hard, still three to four years out. Then there is Tiger. What do we say? My wife said it best. A week ago they were yapping about him on TV and she turned to me. She said,”Why did he ever get married?” This is what men all over the country say about every athlete.

As to politics in general…I tell people all the time. Don’t blame Obama for this mess. He told us all along in his campaign what he would do. There are only a few things he is slipping on and are really quite small. He brought lobbyists into his group, yes he did it. He had to do so, but shouldn’t have promised. Promised no Pork…..missed that one by a country mile. No more DC politics, not even close again. He cuts more back room deals than the mafia. It bothers me that he apologizes to the world for us and pretends we aren’t a Christian nation. (By the way he is not a Christian in his actions, I thought he was but it is obvious he is not) I think he needs to step up the national security and I hate the spending, but he told us the dirty stuff. The socialism and the leveling of the playing field were pillars of his campaign. With all of this said, life in these United States is about to go south. I asked my Father a couple of weeks back if he thought the Romans knew the day that their empire started to fail. History will look at two dates for this Great American Empire, the day President Obama was elected and the day the health care bill will be passes.

I wish you all the best year possible. Ours has been great even in tough times. That is what makes this country so great!
